SATO Holdings Corporation (TOKYO: 6287), a global pioneer in auto-ID and labeling solutions, announced the development of its next-generation cloud platform by SATO Europe. This platform enables no-code development of applications and connectivity with databases and SaaS platforms.1 In a related move, SATO has invested in MobileLogic Sweden AB.
SATO first enabled AEP (Application Enabled Printing) intelligence in its printers in 2010 to allow for customized label printing applications from external data sources via a local network. With AEP, SATO printers can connect directly with peripherals such as barcode scanners, weigh scales, thermometers as well as PLCs,2 to process data for printing without a PC. By developing AEP into a cloud platform, SATO enables the creation of no-code business applications to provide scalability and data connectivity to respond to operational needs with agility and efficiency.
SATO is currently working to innovate its existing business while creating new ones in line with its medium-term management plan announced in March 2024 which sets out to enhance the core business while creating new revenue streams by innovating auto-ID solutions.
The development of this next generation cloud platform is part of the group's effort to grow its global business. As companies are increasingly cloud-first, SATO is strengthening its portfolio of cloud-based products and services to reflect market needs. The no-code and low-code platform allows for agile development and introduction of applications that provide data connectivity with customers' IT systems such as ERP,3 WMS,4 and MES,5 while helping us better compete in the global market.
This new platform opens the way to develop subscription services, where hardware, software, consumables (tags, labels, wristbands, etc.) and maintenance services can be flexibly combined to meet customer needs. It also prepares the groundwork to establish our data management business, enabling us to drive growth in Europe and around the world.
