SATO Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. received the Technology Partners Award from the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) in recognition of successful industry partnership in the manufacturing sector.
SIMTech is a research institute of Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and presented SATO with the award at Manufacturing Productivity Technology Centre’s MPTC 2022 conference held in in April.
SIMTech serves the manufacturing industry through industry assistance, knowledge and technology transfer, and manpower sharing.
This award, in its sixth year, encourages companies across various industries to establish and promote a culture of continuous productivity improvement. By highlighting the impacts and outcomes of their efforts, the award inspires enterprises to forge partnerships to initiate such journeys for productivity and growth.
SATO was recognized for its productivity initiatives in collaboration with SIMTech to develop an RFID inventory management system for company assets and item inventory, while providing track & trace utility to improve productivity at worksites. The system employed RFID gantries, cabinets and handheld scanners, and has been implemented at several companies since 2019. Benefits include real-time inventory visibility with insights on asset movement and more efficient re-stocking of items. These features help to improve customer service and reduce human error. Furthermore, the solution was approved in 2022 by the Singapore government under the country’s Productivity Solution Grant, whereby small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are eligible for government support when they adopt the solution.
