Release SATO and Japan Post Develop C2C Shipping Label Printing Solution

System empowers users of auction sites and resale shopping apps

Jun 19, 2017

SATO, a leading global provider of Auto-ID solutions that empower workforces and streamline operations announced that it developed the Yu-Pri Touch shipping label printing system in collaboration with Japan Post. The service allows sellers on auction sites and resale shopping sites to print out shipping labels specific to the item being shipped.

The system consists of a compact SATO label printer and a QR code reader. Sellers on auction sites and resale shopping services use their smart device with the Japan Post e-delivery service to display a QR code linked to the shipping data. Sellers simply visit post offices equipped with Yu-Pri Touch devices and scan the code in the system to print out shipping labels. The system is compatible with the Japan Post Yu-Pack and Yu-Packet parcel services and eliminates tedious filling out of forms to simplify the shipping process.

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) estimates Japan’s C2C online auction market at 345.8 billion yen. It also estimates resale shopping apps, which emerged in Japan in 2012, to be a 305.2 billion yen market, with further growth on the horizon.

SATO Holdings President and CEO Kaz Matsuyama said, “This system contributes to the resale shopping market by improving ease of use and an overall better user experience for these services. This solution demonstrates how we bridge the last inch between the physical and digital, not just for businesses but also in the C2C sphere.”
